Bills and credit notes
Read a posted bill, send it to the client, record the Revenue Authority's reference and correct it with a credit note.
The bills register
Billing, Bills lists every posted bill with its date, due date, total, what is still owed and its standing: posted, part paid, paid, part credited, credited or written off. An overdue bill is marked. Each matter's Bills tab lists its own bills.

A bill's page
The bill shows its lines, each tax with its rate, its totals, and what credit notes, payments and write-offs have done since. It links to the journal it posted and to its pre-bill.
From the actions menu:
- Open PDF: the bill on the firm's letterhead, in the file viewer, where Download saves it.
- Send by email: to the client's address on file, or others you name, with copies and a message. Type addresses with commas between them, or tick them from the addresses the firm holds for the client and the people at it, such as its directors. Each sending is listed under Deliveries, including any that bounced; Resend in a delivery's menu sends it again to the same addresses, which you can change first.
- Record fiscal reference: where the firm fiscalises by hand, the reference the Ghana Revenue Authority issued.
- Issue a credit note and Write off bad debt.
A posted bill has no Edit. Its Layout fact links to the frozen layout and shows where the choice came from. Changing the layout later never changes the issued bill. The remittance block gives the routed payment account and the bill number, amount due and due date for the client to quote when paying. Read Design what your bills show to set these choices.
The Fiscalisation rail shows its current standing and reference. The Fiscal submissions tab keeps each dated attempt. Where E-VAT failed, finance can retry or choose manual recording with a reason. Credit notes have the same controls. Read Fiscalise bills with the GRA for setup, retries, manual fallback and the policy that can block sending.
Every delivery across the firm
Billing, Deliveries lists every bill and credit note the firm has sent by email, newest first: the client, the matter, who sent it, when, and whether it was delivered, sent, still sending, bounced or not sent, with the reason for a bounce or a refusal. Narrow it by standing, client, sender or days, or search by bill, client or address; the counts by standing above the list add up everything that matches. Open a row to go to its bill.
Issue a credit note
- On the bill, choose Issue a credit note.
- Credit the whole bill, or part of it by entering an amount against each line. A line cannot be credited for more than it has left.
- Choose the reason and describe it in words.
- Tick any time to bill again. It goes back to work in progress on the matter.
- Issue credit note. It posts and takes its number.

Credit note reasons
Settings, Billing settings, Credit note reasons holds the reasons chosen on every credit note, each with a short code that reports group by. Retire a reason the firm no longer uses. A reason no credit note has used can be deleted.
