Client portal settings
Set how the portal greets clients, how they sign in, how long access lasts and what clients may do themselves.
Settings, then Communications, then Client portal holds the firm's rules for its client portal. Each shows its default, and every change is recorded in the audit trail.

How the portal looks
- Welcome to clients: the words on the portal's sign in and home.
- Contact email, phone and hours shown to clients. Empty uses the firm profile's.
The logo and the portal's colour are the firm's own, from the firm's brand: see Your firm's brand.
What clients agree to
- Portal terms address and Privacy notice address: where the firm publishes its terms of use for the portal and its privacy notice to clients.
Signing in and accepting an invitation, the client agrees to the firm's terms and privacy notice, and to Docavra's Terms of Service and Privacy Policy, which the firm accepted for the portal it runs. Until the firm gives an address, its texts are named on the sign-in page without a link.
Signing in and sessions
- Emailed code at sign-in: on a new device only, or every time.
- Trusted device lasts: how long a device the client trusted skips the code.
- Fresh code lasts: how long one code covers paying and signing before another is asked for.
- Portal session idle limit and ends after: when a session ends.
- Invitation open for: how long an invitation link works.
- Authenticator app required: every client sets one up before anything else opens, and none can turn it off.
- Held back until an email is proved: what someone invited by mobile number cannot do until they confirm an email.
- SMS codes an hour, per number: how many sign-in codes one number may be sent in an hour.
What clients may do
- Clients manage their own people: whether an organisation's owner may give colleagues access, within what the owner holds. Off, only the firm gives access.
- Client meetings: the hours meetings may fall in, how long each is, how far ahead and with how much notice a client may ask.
- Notice on portal messages: the standing notice every conversation carries.
- Remind to update a client after: when the responsible lawyer is reminded that a client has had no case update.
- Closed matters readable for: how long a closed matter stays readable to its client.
