Task guide
Criminal matters, charges and bail
Record the charges, the prosecuting authority, bail with its sureties and conditions, and custody, on a criminal matter.
Charges
Open the matter's Case, then Criminal. Under Charges, Add a count records each count: the offence, the enactment, the particulars, the plea and when it was taken, and later the outcome and any sentence. Edit changes a count as it is amended; the history is kept. The prosecuting authority, the prosecutor and the mode of trial are kept on the case's Criminal section.
Bail
Record bail records bail granted or refused, the court and judge, the sum and its conditions, and the bail bond or ruling. Sureties are added from the bail's own record; each surety is a party on the matter, so they are part of every conflict check. Bail reviews and remand return dates are hearings, so they sit in the court diary and start their deadlines like any other.
Custody
Record custody records where the accused is held as it changes. Custody entries are never edited or removed, so the record shows where the client was held on any day.
Stage
The case's stage is the matter's stage, read on the case's overview and moved on the matter as the case goes forward.
