Document approval
Send a draft for approval along the firm's route, and understand why nothing leaves the firm until the version asked for is approved.
Routes
The firm keeps one approval route per kind of document per kind of matter, so a pleading in a suit and a client letter in a conveyance can take different paths. Each step names a person, the matter's responsible partner, or anyone holding a permission. Routes are kept under Settings, Approval routes.
Ask for approval
- Open the document, then its Approvals tab, and choose Ask for approval. The current version starts along its route; add a Note if it helps.
- The approval takes its own copy of the route, so a later change to the route never rewrites a decision in progress. Take it back, with a reason, withdraws a request still waiting.
- Each approver in turn is told and finds the request under Approvals, Waiting on me. Documents, Approvals in the documents rail lists every document the firm still has out for a decision.

Decide
Choose Approve it or Refuse it, then Approve or Refuse. A refusal needs a reason. Nobody approves their own draft unless the firm has said otherwise.
