Forms on your website

Put an intake form in a page of the firm's website or behind a button, say which sites may show it, read where enquiries came from, and see how the form is doing.

A published intake form has its own page on the firm's address. It can also sit inside a page of the firm's own website, or open from a button there, so the site keeps its own look around it.

Open the form under Settings, Intake settings, Forms, then its Embed tab.

The snippets

  • In the page is a script and an empty box. Pasted where the form should appear, it draws the form there and grows the box to the form's height as the visitor moves through it.
  • From a button, in a dialog opens the form over the page when the button is pressed. Escape or a press outside closes it, and the visitor is returned to the button. On a phone it fills the screen.
  • Its own page is the form's link, to use anywhere a snippet cannot go.

Send to the web developer opens an email with both snippets in it.

A button that floats in the corner of every page is the script tag with data-floating-form set to the form's address, data-floating-label for its words and data-floating-colour for its colour.

Where it may appear

The form shows inside the pages of the sites listed under Where it may appear, and nowhere else: a browser refuses to draw it on any other site. Give each site as its https address, such as https://www.yourfirm.com.gh. With none listed, the form is shown on its own page only.

The Preview shows the form as the website will.

Where an enquiry came from

Every visit keeps the page the visitor came from and the UTM values on their link (source, medium and campaign). The enquiry carries them.

Under Settings, Intake settings, UTM rules, a rule names the referral source for a set of values: for example utm_source google and utm_medium cpc names the source Google Ads. Rules are read in order and the first that matches decides; an empty value matches anything, and case does not matter. Drag a rule, or use Move up and Move down, to change the order. A referral code on the link always wins over a rule.

The firm's own analytics

Under The firm's analytics, the firm may give its Google Analytics 4 measurement id, its Google Ads conversion id and its Meta pixel id. They load only after the visitor accepts the firm's cookie notice, whose words are set under Settings, General, Intake (Data Protection Act, 2012, Act 843). When a form is sent, each one is told a lead came in; no answer is ever sent to them.

The report

The Report tab shows the form over a period: how many viewed it, started and sent it, the enquiries it brought, how many became clients and the fees billed on their matters, the rate at each step, how many questions people answered before leaving, how long it takes to finish, the sources and campaigns that brought people, and the devices they used. Views are counted on the firm's server without a cookie.
