Lateral hire candidates

Before an offer, send a lateral candidate a secure link to list their former clients and matters, run the conflicts check on it, record the outcome, and make a cleared candidate a joiner with their declaration kept.

A lawyer joining from another firm brings former clients who may be adverse to the firm's own. People, Candidates holds each lateral candidate from before the offer until they join.

Add candidate records their name, email, the firm they leave, and where they would sit. On the candidate's page, Send the link emails a secure link, with a note of your own if you wish. The link works for the firm's Candidate's link works for (days); sending it again replaces it.

The candidate opens the link, asks for a code sent to their email, and lists each former client: the matter, the years, their part in it and who was on the other side. A client whose name they may not give is marked so and described instead. They can save and come back with a new code. Before sending, they agree to the firm's consent words, the Candidate's consent setting. The candidate learns nothing of what the check finds.

The check and the outcome

Once the candidate sends their former work, the firm's lateral hire check runs on it at once and whoever keeps the candidate is told. The conflicts function decides each result on the check (Checking a lateral hire). Once every result is decided, someone who holds candidate.decide chooses Record the outcome: cleared, with conditions (say what they are, such as matters they are screened from), or refused, with the reason.

Making them a joiner

Invite the candidate through People first. Then, on a cleared candidate, Make them a joiner names the person they became: their joining checklist opens, its conflict declaration item ticks itself, any screens the outcome planned are put on them, and the declaration stays on their record. A refused candidate cannot be made a joiner. Withdraw stops a candidate at any time before they join; their link stops working.
