Leave, practising licences and CPD
Leave that is decided by somebody else and shows what the absence puts at risk, the firm's practising licences by year, and CPD against the requirement.
Leave
- A person asks for leave from the Leave tab of their profile with Request leave: the Kind of leave, the First day and Last day, Who holds their files and What the cover needs to know. Somebody who manages leave can Record leave for another person the same way.
- Somebody else decides it. Nobody approves their own leave.
- Before deciding, the approver sees what the absence costs: the deadlines the person holds and the hearings they are expected at inside the window.
People, Leave requests lists every request, and Who is away shows the firm's absences on a calendar. Approved leave marks the person away. Their deadlines inside the window are flagged and the responsible partner is told. The system never moves anyone's work by itself; the cover is a person the firm names.

Balances and kinds of leave
People, Leave balances shows what each person may take this leave year, what they have taken, what they have asked for and what remains, by kind and leave year. Adjust entitlement changes a person's days for a kind and year, with a reason.
Settings, Kinds of leave sets each kind: its Days a year, how many are Carried into next year, what happens to A request beyond the balance, whether it Counts working days, and who Can be asked for it.
Practising licences
Under Compliance, keep each lawyer's enrolment number, call date and licence for the current year, with the certificate scan. The system reminds 60 and 30 days before expiry, and a firm-wide report shows everyone's standing.
Once a lawyer's latest licence has run out, every matter they answer for says so: the matter's Overview names them, their part in the matter and the day the licence lapsed, and the Matters register marks a responsible partner's lapse beside their name. The flag goes as soon as the new year's licence is recorded.
Each lawyer reads their own licence, CPD and registrations under My standing on their profile: the same sections compliance keeps, for them alone.
CPD
Record each lawyer's CPD activity, with provider, date, hours or points and evidence, against the yearly requirement the firm sets. The shortfall report shows who is behind.
Registrations
Keep the firm's own registrations, such as with the Data Protection Commission, with their renewal dates; the system reminds before each falls due.
